Construction Engineering Technician

Exciting opportunity for an entry level Construction Technician!

Join our multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy located in Southeast Wisconsin, where you’ll be valued as an important contributor from day one. This role offers the chance to expand and diversify your engineering experience through a wide range of transportation projects for state, county, and local government clients. You’ll apply your skills and knowledge to real-world challenges, working within a collaborative, team-oriented environment under the guidance of one of our experienced Construction Leaders.


In the role of Construction Technician, you’ll work closely with a Construction Leader to support a broad range of construction activities. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate project records and documentation, performing inspections of structures, pavement, grading, and drainage systems, assisting with field surveys, and contributing to the development of reports, project exhibits, plans, specifications, and contract documents. Assignments may vary temporarily based on project needs and overall workload. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, proactive, dependable, and excels at building strong working relationships.


Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and  experience with AASHTOWare Project or other construction contract management software
  • Solid communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Good command of English grammar and spelling. Ability to engage in formal and informal correspondence. 
  • Ability to prepare, interpret, and utilize plans, maps, specifications, special provisions, and reports.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations and to prepare engineering reports.
  • Ability to use and maintain various engineering and survey tools and equipment, including but not limited to GPS and AutoLevel.
  • Current certifications with Highway Technician Certification Program or other related material testing certifications.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite.
  • Ability to prioritize, handle several projects at a time and be a “self-starter” 
  • Ability to occasionally work after business hours and/or weekends.
  • Strong problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with limited supervision.
  • Computer-aided design skills such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.
  • Ability to physically perform the essential job functions.


Education:
Associate Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
